Santa Gemma Galgani, mistica e santa lucchese (1878-1903), ha partecipato col corpo alla Passione di Ges con manifestazioni fisiche ben superiori alle stimmate, ed stata tenuta sotto attenta osservazione prima di procedere alla sua beatificazione e santificazione. Questo volume raccoglie la sua biografia scritta dal suo direttore spirituale Padre Germano Ruppolo, dei Padri Passionisti, oltre ad una copiosa raccolta di lettere da lei inviate al suddetto, al Monsignor Volpi suo confessore, e ad altri. A questo si aggiungono le trascrizioni di ci che la santa, durante le sue estasi, diceva, ignara di essere ascoltata dalla madre adottiva, a tal scopo incaricata dal direttore spirituale. Mor nel sabato Santo del 1903, a 25 anni.Dopo la sua morte cominci l'edificazione di un monastero di passioniste a Lucca, come ella aveva ardentemente desiderato e dove riposano le sue spoglie. Completano l'opera una ricca serie di miracoli e grazie ottenuti grazie all'intercessione della Santa, e alcuni versi composti da lei composti.
