Synopsis
The heist is on! Molly Sinclair is a pirate and a craftborn witch in a world where everyone is born either human or witch. Spells are the currency of choice and the guild controls the witches' magic. It buys their spells as cogs-the chant, object and gesture necessary to make them work. It packages and sells them and threatens anyone who refuses to follow their rules and Molly wants nothing to do with them.Tensions in the isles run high. People are poor, and power is shifting. When Molly steals a chest full of spells from the governor, his nephew steps in and a search begins.Molly is a strong-willed young woman, haunted by her parent's disappearance and determined to protect her fifteen-year-old brother. There's mistaken identities and battles at sea and though Molly prefers to live her life free of the guild and sailing her ship, she doesn't have that choice. She needs to find out who is lying and who is telling the truth before the final battle destroys them all., The heist is on. Molly Sinclair is a pirate and a witch, and if there's a chance at gold, she's going to take it. The isles are a magical world, bordered by ice but never cold. A world where everyone is born human or witch, and magic is the currency of choice. Spells are bought, packaged and sold by the powerful witches' guild and Molly wants nothing to do with them. Molly is a craftborn witch, more powerful than most, yet forced to hide her skills. She longs to be free: to sail her ship, protect her younger brother, and stay clear of scheming marketeers, the governor, an absent king and the guild. But tension in the isles runs high. The years of plenty are fading and people are poor. Power is shifting, and freedom costs money. When Molly steals a chest full of spells from the governor's palace, his not-so-royal nephew steps in and a search begins. Now, Molly needs to find out who is lying and who is telling the truth before the final battle destroys them all. With THE POWER WE SHARE, award winning Alaskan writer Elyse Guttenberg begins a new series set in the age of sail in a re-imagined earth. " With beautiful images of the gods, their portals and far lands, Guttenberg weaves an intriguing story around a surprisingly strong framework of dreams." --Locus Magazine " A world rich with poetry, resonant myth, and sensuously drawn characters... Delightful... A treat ." --Elizabeth Ann Scarborough, author of THE HEALER'S WAR Follow Guttenberg into Ancient Alaska, and the saga of one woman, chosen by the spirits, and called on to save her people. SUMMER LIGHT, a novel of Ancient Alaska, Book 1 DAUGHTER OF THE SHAMAN, a novel of Ancient Alaska, Book 2 " Anyone interested in Alaska's Natives will find much to like in this book, and anyone interested in good, factually correct fiction will find it irresistible. - f***j (418)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseAs the description says: Paw Paws from seed to table. Great deal, Quick shipping. Thanks!
- i***s (102)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseI got the book and it told me it'd be used, in good condition. It is in fact not in good condition. The cover is ripped up pretty bad. One wrong move and the cover is off the book. I would be perfectly fine with a used book, if it was true to description, but this is not what I was expecting. Not satisfied.
