A product of Bandai Namco, "Ride" plays out in the form of a World Tour with races arranged in accordance to motorcycle specification and further separated by power, cylinders, or age. The menus simple to navigate with prompts displaying which races may be entered at a glance. Emerging victorious heightens your reputation, permitting you to take part in Elite races. New World Tour events are unlocked each time you and your motorcycle prove capable enough to progress. There is a remarkable choice of events, which vary from a classic-style of racing to drag races and head-to-head matchups. The latter pits you against a rival motocross racer, and you must work to get ahead of them before the timer runs out. Drag races override your settings, meaning that riders must make manual gear shifts. The goal is to sap the greatest amount of power from each shift in order to win.The motorcycles are the main attractions in this Xbox classic, and there are more than 110 to select from. These include such well-loved and known varieties as super sports, naked motorcycles, historical motorcycles, and superbikes. They can all be customized with performance or styling parts. Motorcycles from different categories will reveal a noticeable difference in speed and handling. Once you have selected a ride, there are 15 tracks to take on, including real street circuits and tracks such as Donnington. Each has its own unique feel, but they were all designed with bikes in mind. They have deeply sweeping corners, and the French Riviera track has a stunning succession of hairpin turns to snake around.When playing, the bikes themselves spring to life. Turning is executed by shifting one's weight, meaning you must think about upcoming corners further in advance than one would in a car. Once you've committed to the turn, the racing line holds more significance than ever. "Ride" features multiple physics choices to select from with the tutorial offering a sample of them all. The tutorials cover maneuvers like making the weight shifting closer or further from realistic laws, dependent upon your specific taste. Playing on softer settings provides an arcade-like feel, resulting in some contact with opponents. Adjusting to a higher level will result in the rider flying from the road when turning too sharply into a corner. Victory is not impossible should you come unseated, however, with a rewind system assigned to the L1 button. Simply tap to get you and your machine back onto the pavement and continue gaming. The presentation is vibrant and highly realistic as is common with Xbox One console games. The bikes are meticulously detailed as are the characters, and the track contains very little static even during rapid game play. The background screen in the story is highly detailed as well with your character in the foreground of their impressive home mansion. Even the navigation and menus are crisp. The loading screens allow players to browse the stats and history of the bike currently being used, which is one of the more entertaining and informative perks of this addictive Xbox One game.
