Synopsis
Published to mark the 75th anniversary of D-Day in 2019, this book tells the story of the historic landings and the battle for Normandy using documents, art and photographs from the archives at IWM. It will feature first-hand accounts of the action, giving a vivid account of what was one of the most significant campaigns of the Second World War., In the hours before dawn on June 6, 1944, an unprecedented assemblage of men, weapons, and machines swung into action. The long-awaited, highly secret D-Day invasion had begun. By the end of the day, the mission to liberate Europe had made its most crucial advance. This richly illustrated account draws on the unparalleled collections of the Imperial War Museums to reconstruct the invasion and its aftermath through images of artifacts, documents, period photographs, and art. Eyewitness accounts put the reader in the middle of the action, reminding us that even with all the careful planning and firepower the Allies were able to muster, the outcome of the invasion was far from certain. Recreating the drama and danger of D-Day, this book is a perfect commemoration of a day that changed the world., In the hours before dawn on June 6, 1944, an unprecedented assemblage of men, weapons, and machines swung into action. 1st edition, 2nd impression edition of "The Drunken Forest," by Gerald Durrell is as pictured & described. Arrived quickly & safely! Got a great deal on it! Great communication! The book, with a protective mylar cover, was wrapped in bubble wrap, then wrapped in sturdy cardboard, then placed in a rugged bubble mailer! Fort Knox in a mailer! So hard to get an early edition of this classic! So happy to add to my growing collection of nature & science books! Thank you! !!Seller Highly Recommended!!

Book was well protected, shipped via book class, eventually arrived. In condition as described by seller, unfortunately there was a binding error during printing that was missed (15 pages were replaced with a duplicate 15 pages from another section) when informed vender checked inventory, no other identical books so they offered an alternate rare antique book but the book I was interested in at half the price was common so the seller refunded me the purchase price instead. Great seller.
