This was a fundraiser for a group called "The Friends of the GG 1" that helped to get it preserved at the Railroad Musuem of Pennsylvania because it was the first GG 1 ever built and it was saved from coming face to face with the scrapper's torch in 1980 like so many other GG 1s did as well as the other surviving GG 1s that were preserved.
