Photo from Amchitka Island is crude Island airport with Jack Gamble (center) later commander of the Alaskan Air Command with HQ at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska and Sylvan Rubin a nuclear physics and expert on radiation, missiles and instruments (right). It was during one of the three underground Alaskan tests between 1965-1971.
