"NBA 2K12" for the Sony PlayStation 2 is the 13th installment of the NBA 2K video game series from developer Visual Concepts and Virtuos and publisher 2K Sports. Playable in single or multi player modes, "NBA 2K12" on PS2 offers several bonus features, including the NBA Greatest mode, My Player mode, and Association mode. In the NBA Greatest mode, you have the option of choosing legends from various eras such as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Dr. J, and Hakeem Olajuwon. You can set it up to play in their period specific basketball courts. My Player mode gives players the chance to guide a rookie through an NBA career, and the Association Mode has players taking on the role as the general manager of an NBA team. Of course, much of the smack talk comes down to simple throwdowns in multiplayer mode where the scoreboard has the final say. "NBA 2K12" had an initial release date in October of 2011 for several consoles, including the PS2, PS3, and Xbox 360. This game builds on the previous editions in the series by adding the NBA Greatest mode. This can be a fun and exciting way to play because you can control legends of the older days of the game, from Michael Jordan all the way back to the Bill Russell era. There are 15 great legends to choose from and they come from all different eras. Each one also has their own signature special move for realistic play. That can provide great depth and immersion to an already engaging game. It can also open up lots of conversations about which teams of all time greats could take on each other and win. In Association mode, which is the franchise simulator, you have the option to simulate most of the season and only do the games that matter, called Key Games. This takes a lot of time off the franchise mode and makes it easier to access for new fans. It is also possible to create a character and follow them through the draft and beyond with the My Player mode. It culminates in the potential for your created character to get into the Hall of Fame. It's a lofty goal and an opportunity for many gamers to live out their pro ball dreams in a virtual world. This "2K12" video game for PS2 from Visual Concepts has an ESRB rating of E for Everyone and is recommended for kids age 8 and up. The whole family can enjoy making their own character, improving the athlete's stats, and aiming for record breaking scores to land in the Hall of Fame.
