The base is substantial. The new ones have a thin weight plate, not as good and does not connect as flush to the sink leaving a thin gap. The one you sent is secured with steel clamps, not plastic screw hubs that are tightened just by hand. And the new ones do not have as robust a spray hose connector. Overall, Moen is cutting costs and quality. They have gone too far.
