One of the most popular gaming consoles of all time, the 16-bit Sega Genesis CDX introduced Americans to popular characters like Sonic the Hedgehog. In 1992, Sega Launched the Sega CD, an add-on that allowed developers to take advantage of the excellent storage space and graphics offered by CD-ROMs. This meant a more immersive and stunning gaming experience was now available to gamers. “Dragon's Lair,” “Sonic CD,” and “Earthworm Jim Special Edition” are just a few of the iconic video games that were released on CD with improved graphics. This Sega Genesis CDX console is fully backward-compatible, so it is capable of playing any Sega video game disc. This CDX game system can even run your audio compact discs. This makes it essentially a 16-bit CDX video game system that can double as a CD player. There is a backlit LCD screen on the console, which will show you the status of each player. Weighing 1.5 pounds, it is easy to take with you anywhere you go, and it is easy to set up. Its compact size and headphone port allow it to run audio CDs on the go, using only two AA batteries. The CDX has front-mounted CD control buttons and an extra line-out port so that you can connect it to your stereo equipment. To play Sega Genesis cartridge games, you simply need to put the game in the cartridge slot at the back of the unit. CD-style games can easily be played by installing them in the top-loading compact disc drive located on top. This unit must be directly powered to an AC power outlet and connected to a television for video output. All of the necessary cables come standard with this product. The power button, which is located on the center front of the unit, has a two-position toggle switch. On both sides of the power button, you will find a controller port. The AV out port is on the left side. The AC to DC adapter is at the back for when you want to use it as a battery-powered portable CD player.
