A native Dubliner himself, Norton provides a masterful palette of characterizations for each of the ten pieces, fleshing out the realities of their oftentimes stark and difficult lives with technique that no one but a true local could bring. Irish music is interspersed throughout the production, lending an even more authentic feel without ever becoming overbearing. Dubliners is Joyce's most accessible work; this audio format makes it additionally rewarding.
