India Cookbook, above all, is an inspiration and a testament to the glory of Indian cooking in all its incarnations. It's a call to the kitchen., "beautifully-designed... indispensable information on ingredients and equipment... manages to make even the most exotic and esoteric regional recipes accessible with straightforward methods and plain language" -Good Things, 'Beautifully-designed... Indispensable information on ingredients and equipment... Manages to make even the most exotic and esoteric regional recipes accessible with straightforward methods and plain language.' - Good Things 'Part of Phaidon's ridiculously popular culinary-bible series, it could mean you'll never need a takeaway again.' - Sunday Times 'Phaidon have once again produced another wittily packaged, yet comprehensive cookbook... An excellent collection.'- Chef 'Beautiful... 1,000 family recipes that have been collected from all over the subcontinent.' - Independent

Synopsis
India: The Cookbook is the first comprehensive guide to Indian cooking, with over 1,000 recipes covering every aspect of India's rich and colourful culinary heritage. Unlike many other Indian cookbooks, it is written by an Indian culinary academic and cookbook author who lives and works in Delhi, and the recipes are a true reflection of how traditional dishes are really cooked all over India. They have been carefully edited to ensure that they are simple to follow and achievable in western kitchens, with detailed information about authentic cooking utensils and ingredients. Indian food has been hugely popular in the UK for many years, and the appetite for Indian food shows no sign of diminishing. Now, for the first time, a definitive, wide-ranging and authoritative book on authentic Indian food is available, making it simple to prepare your favourite Indian dishes at home, alongside less well-known dishes such as bataer masalydaar (marinated quails cooked with almonds, chillies and green cardamom), or sambharachi kodi (Goan prawn curry with coconut and tamarind). The comprehensive chapters on breads, pickles, spice pastes and chutneys contain a wide variety of recipes rarely seen in Indian cookbooks, such as bagarkhani roti (a rich sweet bread with raisins, cardamom and poppy seeds) and tamatar ka achar (tomato and mustard-seed pickle). India: The Cookbook is the only book on Indian food you'll ever need., INDIA: THE COOKBOOK is the definitive guide to the rich and varied cooking of India. Doing for India what The Silver Spoon did for Italy and 1080 Recipes did for Spain, it contains 1,000 easy-to-follow, authentic recipes covering the length and breadth of India, including starter salads and kebabs; fish, vegetarian and meat main courses; breads and snacks; pickles and side dishes; and desserts and drinks. It also provides a wealth of information on the different regional cooking styles, the food philosophies of India, and guides to cooking equipment and ingredients. The recipes have been extensively researched, tested and collected from all regions of India by Professor Pushpesh Pant, author of several Indian cookbooks and an expert on Indian cuisine. They have been fully updated for western kitchens, retaining all the colours, flavours and textures of this fascinating and mouthwatering cuisine.

- e***u (283)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThe listing was for a hardcover version of this book; however, I received a paperback. The Seller replied quickly to my question about this issue and issued a full refund - and let me keep the book. So, a diligent Seller for sure - and well packaged and reasonable timing on shipping. Thank you for the refund, and as you suggested, I'll likely donate this volume and seek the hardcover.
- e***n (392)- Feedback left by buyer.Past 6 monthsVerified purchaseGreat transaction, exactly as described, packed well, and promptly shipped on August 6th. Unfortunately the U.S. Postal Service took 23 calendar days to deliver the book. It was shipped from Pennsylvania, to Atlanta, past Alabama to Texas, enjoyed several days in Texas, then to Minneapolis, Jacksonville, Florida, back to Atlanta, finally to Birmingham, and Huntsville. The seller was very responsive and I decided it was interesting to see if/how the book would arrive. - a***a (419)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchaseThis 2DVD set is in perfect condition. Cover art and case like new. Both DVDs played with no flaws. Description was listed as “Good”; I would describe it as “Very Good”, basically Like New. Delivery was super fast and packaging was excellent. The DVD case was wrapped well, then put in a cardboard envelope that was sturdy and hard to open (this is NOT a negative!). I have purchased from this company a few times and have always been very satisfied. Prices are great.
