Originally released for the Sega Master System in 1989 by Sega and Westone as Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap, this is a remaster from developer Lizardcube. The game features hand-drawn animated graphics, a re-imagined soundtrack based on Shinichi Sakamoto's original, three difficulty levels, the ability to switch to classic graphics/audio at any time, and the option to play as a female character. In human form Wonder Boy is known as Hu-Man while the new character is Hu-Girl, and both can transform into a lizard, mouse, piranha, lion, and hawk throughout the adventure.<br><br>Picking up directly after the second Wonder Boy game Wonder Boy in Monster Land, The Dragon's Trap sees the protagonist turned into a lizard-man by the Meka-Dragon at the start of the game. The hero then sets off to locate the Salamander Cross that can turn them back into a human but to reach the cure they'll have to master each transformation and battle a number of dragon bosses. There are no specific levels; instead areas branch out from a central town with each location accessible by a specific creature type. For example, to climb a wall made of checkered blocks the player must first obtain the ability to morph into the mouse form that allows them to walk on the unique blocks.
