The Apple X Snow Leopard 10.6.3 software upgrade comes in DVD format to update your Mac computer from Leopard to Snow Leopard. Mac OS Snow Leopard is designed to work with Intel Macs. Snow Leopard is not a complete system overhaul, but rather a collection of smaller refinements to make your Mac run more smoothly and improve compatibility between apps. This upgrade is full of small updates to the existing features of Leopard, making them much more user-friendly. The Snow Leopard operating system update also enhances the performance of the Leopard Mac OS system and improves efficiency across a number of programs. The Snow Leopard software update enhances the usability of common programs, like Finder and QuickTime. Finder has been redesigned from the version in Leopard to make file-viewing and browsing much simpler, and a complete overhaul of QuickTime (now updated to QuickTime X) gives the program a cleaner interface and recording tools. The Finder itself has very few changes in terms of interface, but there are some big changes to the way files behave, which makes them easier to use. You can preview documents with multiple pages and play QuickTime movies from within the Finder window thanks to the addition of the enhanced icon view. There is also a new zoom slider that allows you to zoom in on icons while you search for files. The Mac App Store will install with your update as well. Another key update is Microsoft Exchange, which integrates the Mail, Address Book, and iCal apps. Multi-touch trackpad support has also been added for laptops, such as the MacBook Pro. Apple’s Time Machine backup tool is included as well, along with the Boot Camp utility that allows you to install and dual boot Windows on your Mac. Preview now allows you to preview files, even those created with software you may not have on your hard drive, meaning you can view information without owning the program in which it was created. Installation of Mac OS X Snow Leopard on your computer is a breeze with the DVD disk. The installer has been redesigned to take about half the time of software updates and can only be used on an Apple Mac computer system that is Intel-based. Snow Leopard will also locate any missing drivers for you as an added convenience. The major applications in Snow Leopard have been rewritten in 64-bit to take advantage of the hardware found in newer Macs.
