    About this product

    Product Information

"Sonic Mega Collection" for the Nintendo GameCube is a collection of seven classic "Sonic the Hedgehog" plus bonus games. Each game in "Sonic Mega Collection" is taken from the "Sonic the Hedgehog" Sega Genesis library. The games in this collection are perfect emulations of how they initially appeared on the Genesis. These "Sonic" games also received a facelift in the form of enhanced graphics that make the colors pop on your high-definition television. This emulator was developed by the Sonic Team and even allows you to save your game at any point. The original release date was in November 2002.Sonic the Hedgehog is the first game Sega released for the Genesis that introduces the blue creature to the world, along with his nemesis, the evil Dr. Robotnik. Sonic races through over 10 levels with a boss fight at the end of every act. This GameCube game lays the foundation for every "Sonic the Hedgehog" game that follows it.Sonic 2 is the second game in the set and introduces a new character to the franchise: Tails. A second player can control Tails or he can just follow behind Sonic in single-player mode. The evil doctor is back in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, and it is up to the duo to stop him. This game introduces new moves for the characters, including Sonic's spin dash. The third title in the collection adds new gameplay elements. Players can equip shields that protect them in combat. The Water Shield will let you breathe underwater indefinitely while the Flame Shield protects you from a fire. This title is also the first in the series to include Knuckles, the Echidna. Sonic & Knuckles, the fourth game, lets gamers play as Knuckles for the first time. Knuckles features different abilities than the main character. He can't run at super speeds, but he can glide and climb walls. While the title features the same levels for both characters, they take different routes through the stages. This feature lends the title some extra replay potential. The fifth game, Sonic 3D Blast, moves away from the 2-D elements of past games and into the world of 3-D. The quest is to rescue the Flickies from the clutches of the evil doctor. This game has an isometric viewpoint, letting you see more of the action at one time. Sonic Spinball also goes in a different direction, inserting the titular character into a pinball machine. Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is a puzzle game. In Mean Bean Machine, players will need to match up beans of similar colors. In addition to a single-player mode, Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine lets you go head-to-head with your friends.By unlocking two additional Sega games, you'll encounter two characters named Ristar and Flicky. This compilation also lets you play some spin-off games, such as Sonic 3 and Knuckles and Blue Sphere. "Sonic Mega Collection" for the GameCube also features an array of bonuses. Players can view artwork taken from the comic and promotional materials as well as high-resolution scans of each manual for the individual games. Whether alone or with a friend, "Sonic Mega Collection" will provide a fantastic gaming experience.
