Synopsis
NEW Fencing Text from Charles Simonian! While incorporating and updating the unique features of my previous book, Basic Foil Fencing, Get the Point! has added a great deal of new material to make it the most Comprehensive book on the market! The book's skill topics are presented in a logical learning sequence, proceeding from the beginning to the most advanced skills. Each cluster of skills is followed by detailed explanations of the tactical uses of the skills. Although the primary target audience is the college physical education fencing classes, fencers of any level will find the book to be useful because the content goes well beyond the usual description of skills and strategies. Included is material regarding refereeing, conditioning, equipment repair, and many drills. The chapters on epee and saber fencing fundamentals serve as introductions to those weapons. Teachers will find a useful chapter on class organization and presentation of skills in a physical education or group learning situation. Appendix E offers insights into conditioning for fencing-flexibility, endurance, and strength. Appendix B provides information regarding the maintenance and repair of electric foils. In addition to drills covered within the text, there is a separate appendix devoted entirely to many drills that can be used by individuals or in classes.
