Rival Realms is a real time strategy adventure, featuring three distinct races from which to choose and three campaigns spanning 60 levels. Up to eight players are supported via network and modem for head-to-head play. What you don't get with Rival Realms is a thick book of documentation explaining the many magic spells, scrolls, artifacts, weapons or background story. In fact, you don't even get a thin book -- all gameplay is explained on-line through five tutorials, multiple learning levels and on-screen help.<br><br>For those who like to create their own campaigns and scenarios, a level/campaign editor is provided. The game allows the player to build armies and then stockpile them in libraries for future use. Real time battle, a full menagerie of mythical beasts to fight and an intuitive interface complement the action as the three races mold unique characteristics, environments and battle forces. Control is at the individual unit level with each amassing experience points, weapons and magical artifacts for trade with others. <br><br>The story is based in a land where versatile Humans, magical Elves and belligerent Greenskins have been ferociously battling for supremacy for centuries, each determined to seize control of the land and establish dominance over their enemies. Each race has 12 unique buildings and 14 different units. Battles rage on land, sea and in the air as these Rival Realms try to fillet their opponents in a massive confrontation where the winner takes all. The interface supports both mouse and keyboard control.<br><br>Rival Realms was developed by Activ Pub studios in Romania and published by Digital Integration in the United Kingdom. The American version is published by Titus Software Corporation,distributed by Interplay Productions. Wherever it's played, Rival Realms, in a quote from the official web site (www.digint.co.uk/high/catalogue/rival/pr.html), is a "world full of knights and wizards, mercenaries and thieves, where armies of Pegas Riders roam the wilderness and armadas of warships patrol the high seas in search of wealth and adventure."
