The author's approach seems to me to be good and logical. The balance between theory, applications and using computer tools (MATLAB, etc.) for verification is a very good balance. The concepts are well presented and described. The examples are more than adequate. The illustrations are in general very good. The range of topics discussed is very good. Using MATLAB is a plus., Organization of material is fine. The approach to the topics presented in the text is good and it is consistent with the educational and learning process. The authors are paying attention to the level of the student's understanding and the need to motivate and illustrate concepts with examples and problem descriptions and guidance to appropriate solutions. The authors use good graphics, good side notes, good demarcations to break pace and mark important concepts as side-bars that pull the student's attention., I like the inclusion of a chapter summary at the end of each chapter. I think these short summary sections play an important role in the learning process. Overall, this is a solid textbook! Of course, the use of MATHLAB examples has become the standard in DSP courses, and it is well-represented in this textbook.
