Othello for the Atari 2600 is a translation of Parker Brothers' popular board game of strategy. The object is enclose one or more of your opponent's playing pieces between two of your own.<br><br>Each person takes turns placing black or white discs (they look like squares in this version) onto a game board made up of 64 squares. Once you enclose your opponent's discs, they will change to your color. The person who has the most discs at the end of the game is considered the winner. <br><br>Gameplay involves using the joystick to first position a cursor somewhere on the grid, then pressing the button to place the disc. Othello offers four game modes, with the first three determining the strength of the computer opponent (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) and the last allowing for two players.<br><br>Setting the left difficulty switch to the 'A' position will let players customize the board to practice strategies, while the right difficulty switch determines which color begins play.
