Tight tolerances, adjustment is firm and smooth. I have tried many types of garden hose nozzles in my 60+ years including some I custom made. These cannot be beat--simple and sturdy with infinite adjustment and positive cut off with no leaks. Periodically replace the o-rings and they're as good as new, just don't drop on concrete and they'll last forever.
