We were not sure if the backdrop of the hieroglyphs were due to the polished coating since i requested to have an engraved message. It does make the Hieroglyphs more noticeable, but my fiance was bummed because he really loved amd expected the ring to look the same as in the picture's.the ring is very solid and craftsmanship is made well. The ring arrived in great condition and is worth every cent.
