The chips themselves are not fake, and are perfectly fine. The week codes on the chips are 2014-2016. RAM doesn't really degrade, so if the chips are OK then the modules are also OK. A thorough test in Memtest and OCCT showed that they are good, at least for now. They were cheap so not going to give 'negative', but can't give 'positive' either due to the deception.
