This is meant as a "one size fits all" product and it does work well for my needs. It would NOT function if you needed to tip the chair back to get it up a step I think the handle would come out if tipping the chair is your goal then NOT for you. I use this together with an add on motor and when my helper needs to grab the back of me..this works or...if anyone needs to push me when I have the motor on...upright is fine. It works for what is needed but it does not fit all chairs 100%
