Daniel Blade was the perfect military man with a penchant for high-stakes air combat. On October 17, 1999, he was the test pilot for the military's XF/A-49 prototype fighter jet when it disappeared from radar. It is believed that Daniel Blade has turned to a life of crime and is now working for the Deldine Corporation. <br><br>Mad Dog, a military unit that conducts secret missions for the government, has been hired to destroy the stolen fighter jet so that no one can use its advanced technology. You have been selected as one of the four pilots who will attempt to crack Deldine's defenses in an attempt to destroy the prototype.<br><br>In the style of classics like After Burner, Sky Target is a hybrid flight simulation and arcade shooter. From the start you can choose to fly an F-14, F-16, or the fictional Rafale M. Then it's time to take to the skies in either Arcade or Ranking mode. Arcade mode is an exact translation of the arcade game that contains seven levels. Blast your way through various enemy air, land, and sea targets with your unlimited-ammo Vulcan cannons. Or lock-on and destroy the enemy aircraft with missiles. At the end of each stage, you'll have to match wits with a boss who's typically ten times your size -- can you deal death to this horde of flying fortresses?<br><br>Ranking mode is original to the Sega Saturn version of Sky Target. The objective is to play a mission without ever being killed. Completing the mission successfully will result in a promotion and another mission. As each mission is completed new, more challenging missions will become available.
