The Garmin nuvi GPS receiver is equipped with a bright and easy-to-read 5-inch screen display. The display is equipped with manual dual-orientation capabilities, allowing it to be used horizontally or vertically. When you are unable to look at the map on the screen, the nuvi 2557LMT will guide you along your route. Garmin Real Voice technology provides spoken turn-by-turn directions, allowing you to stay on course while keeping your eyes on the road. The Garmin 2557LMT is filled with maps of North America, known as nuMaps. You receive free lifetime updates of the maps from the manufacturer four times per year, so you can rest assured that you will always have the most up-to-date map for your route. The maps include navigation information and points of interest, so you can find addresses and check for your destination among millions of points of interest, including restaurants, hotels, stores, and other destinations throughout North America. Simply select the point of interest or type in the address, and the navigator will take you there. Additionally, you can add custom points of interest to the device. The Garmin nuvi 2557 GPS is equipped with Active Lane Guidance to guide you through interchanges and exits with confidence. The animated model on the map features arrows that indicate the lane you need to be in for your route, and brightly colored arrows specify the right drive lane and road signs that will appear along the route. Voice prompts offer additional guidance when you cannot look at the map. In addition to an up-to-date map and turn-by-turn directions, this auto navigator provides reliable information about traffic along your route through Garmin Traffic. The map remains on the screen with traffic alerts and spoken messages. Garmin Traffic provides details about traffic and how much of a delay you can expect, so you can adjust your route to avoid getting stuck in traffic and still arrive at your destination on time. You receive free lifetime traffic updates with exceptional customer service, so you always have the latest information to avoid being stuck in traffic. The Garmin nuvi GPS has a rechargeable lithium-ion battery. When the battery is fully charged, it offers 2.5 hours of battery life before it will need to be recharged. The unit comes with a suction cup mount, USB cable, quick start manual, and lifetime traffic antenna and vehicle power cable. In addition to the maps, features, and accessories that come with the Garmin nuvi 2557LMT GPS, other accessories can be purchased separately. A wireless backup camera can be added to enable you to see pedestrians and vehicles behind you, so you can back up safely. The unit accepts a microSD card, which is also sold separately.
