It was described in the listing that the item was sealed but did have damage in a corner. On further inspection I noticed that the entire side had been opened so it wasn't necessarily "sealed" but the peel was still on it and the receiving plug is incredibly tight so I do believe it was brand new. For the price, I care even less. So far I've enjoyed using the product and I've learned a lot about the electronics I'm using in my house!
