It was backed with board, enclosed in plastic, and mailed in a cardboard mailer... and the post office still managed to crush the package (not seller's fault). They even put two "do not bend" stickers on the package. Item was shipped quickly. I am overall very pleased... except with the US post office. It seems like the prices keep going up and the service keeps going down.
