For the past 30 years, Special Consensus has been a breeding ground for some of the best young stars in bluegrass. Through extensive touring, television and radio appearances, school bluegrass workshops, and symphony orchestra performances, this innovative band has built an eclectic and loyal following. They have performed on the legendary stages of the Ryman and Grand Ole Opry and tour regularly through Europe and Canada. Bandleader Greg Cahill was exposed to traditional Irish music at a young age from his grandfather, whose family came to America from the region of Ireland between Killarney and Cork. This influence has inspired Cahill to include traditional Irish tunes on each recording and has led to the band's successful international tours through Ireland and the U.K. Special Consensus is held in such high regard in the international bluegrass community that bandleader Greg Cahill was recently elected president of the industry's top organization, the International Bluegrass Music Association.
