The band, including Sidney de Paris on trumpet, challenges the leader more than many of the European units he played with. The seasoned professionals play with a drive and spirit reminiscent of Bechet's New Orleans Feetwarmers from 1932. Incidentally, these were the last studio recordings Sidney Bechet made in the U.S. However, his recording career was far from over! Not long after his return to Paris, he was already back at the studios with Claude Luter and his orchestra. "As-tu le cafard?" and "Dans les rues d'Antibes" sold extremely well but THE smash-hit was made three days later: "Petite fleur" will forever be associated with Bechet, a recording that has lost none of it's charm in 50 years.
