I used rubber glue to attach a small piece of 1/8 in. Thick rubber on top of the sliding part of the holder so it extended slightly out in the direction of the metal hook to keep the bottom of the pocket watch from slipping out when extended. I also used a rubber band around the body of the holder and the pendant to keep that end secure. See pictures below.
