If it hadn't been listed as "open box," I would have never known. Price was great, too, at almost 40-45% off regular retail value of a brand new identical Neewer kit. The only problem I did find was that a little tab on the backdrop support stand broke off, but it literally does not affect the item's use at all. Also, shipping time was really fast.
