REAL LIFE & TIMES REVIEW from March, 2004 Issue The combination of powerful alternative sounds with lyrical references to God¹s Word makes Corbetta's latest CD ('No Excuses') an incredible music experience. 'No Excuses' presents cutting edge music that exceeds so many contemporary Christian songs while also incorporating scripture that speaks right to the heart. I found each track to be entertaining as it ministered to me. Right off the bat, Corbetta's first track is upbeat, catchy and relatable. Producer Dwayne Larring and mixer Jason Halbert's amazing rhythmic mix make each track it's own production. Track #1 is no exception to Larring and Halbert's brilliance. Corbetta begins by singing from the perspective of a person 'down on their luck' and treated as an outcaste. She includes lyrics that cause us to identify, tapping into the part of us that hurts when treated unfairly. As the song progresses, we soon discover that this song is written about the lame beggar at the gate called beautiful in Acts 3. This song titled 'beautiful' captures listeners by bringing scripture to life while jamming to an upbeat groove. It's a track that sums up her entire CD. The CD goes on to incorporate praise, worship along with relatable pieces that touch us at the core. Throughout the entire CD, Corbetta never loses her edginess which speaks so loudly to a generation that demands genuineness. Now more than ever, music fans are looking for musicians to be 'real'. Corbetta stays 'real' from beginning to end. I highly recommend this CD to any music fan . . . Christian or non.
