The base could be a little heavier because my last floor standing lamb fell over so many time whilst cleaning that the socket was bent out of shape. Thus I purchase this believe it to be cast-iron and heavier. It is not. It too could be knocked over very easily. I also do not believe that this is "Amish-made" as I reside in the "Amish" State of Pennsylvania and have seen their handiwork.
