Crime journalist Edmond Bancroft, is the man responsible for writing these stories on the crime. Everyone in London, including Scotland Yard, is baffled by the seemingly unsolvable murders; but not Edmond Bancroft. This is because, he seized the opportunity to come up with an attention-grabbing article by making up these horrible acts of murder himself. He collaborates with his assistant, Rick and together the two men manage a "black museum" where all the acts of "murder" derive from.
