Psychic TV's mercurial lineups, fearless experimentation, and frequent genre hopping all factor in to the band sounding wildly different from record to record. Nowhere is this more apparent than in a series of bootleg quality recordings of different gigs from the project's always unfurling evolution. One of these, Thee Fabulous Feast ov Flowering Light sees bandleader Genesis P-Orridge joined by a ramshackle crew including members of Soft Cell and Strawberry Switchblade in a very lively, rock-leaning show recorded at London's Hammersmith Palais in May of 1985. The pickup band runs through versions of PTV tunes like "Unclean" and "I Like You" with the same droney garage stomp as the Velvet Underground in their most dazed moments, but keep all the weirdness, noise, and sinister feelings that rest in the core of each song. ~ Fred Thomas
