    About this product

    Product Information

A finely crafted port of Konami's arcade game, Loco-Motion was an attempt by the folks at Mattel to add coin-op excitement and relevance to the Intellivision library. The train features less detail than its quarter-munching counterpart, and the crossties on the train tracks are more pronounced, but gameplay remains virtually the same. Best of all, the sometimes tricky disc controller works well in manipulating the track pieces. Unfortunately, a very similar game, Happy Trails (praised for its "originality"), was released for the Intellivision by Activision just prior to Loco-Motion, forcing the marketers at Mattel to downplay the release of their game. Mattel wanted Konami to sue Activision, but no such lawsuit ever materialized since Konami's contract guaranteed them royalties regardless of how many copies of the game sold.
