This was my first time purchasing 1" risers but I have experience with 1/2" and 3/4" risers and can confirm they do not have longitudinal seams like this has. I'd guess it is nylon rather than PVC. In its defense, it held up fine with a pipe wrench twisting it onto a fitting. My application is downstream from a ball valve which will spend 99% of its time closed. Would have been hesitant to use in a pressurized run of pipe.
