Data transfer rates are quick, with media to/from buffer maximum rates of 175 MBps and buffer to/from host maximum rates of 300 MBps. There is a typical drive ready time of 12 seconds. Along with the NoiseGuard feature, the SilentSeek technology on the Samsung 1 TB Hard Drive reduces noisy operation. There are also several safeguards in place to protect the internal hard drive from damage, including a rotational vibration sensor, intelligent external disturbance compensation, and over temperature write protection. This Samsung 1 TB Hard Drive measures 14.7 cm by 10.2 cm by 0.3 cm (5.8 inches by 4 inches by 0.1 inch), and it weighs 650 grams (22.9 ounces).
