The purpose of this book, as titled, is to exist as a photo reference guide. I have found it to be nearly perfectly sufficient. It covers the majority of species kept in captivity, including rarer birds, but there was a noticeable lack in some places, such as in regard to several species missing from the section "Parrotlets", which is peculiar because the guide is extensive yet the missing species of parrotlets have been kept in captivity since before the date of publication.
