In the 1920s Southern California exploded as the greatest home-building region in the world. Beaux-Arts trained architect Gerard Colcord flourished there, creating four hundred estates between 1924 and 1984. Real estate expert Bret Parsons culled through ten thousand original documents and interviewed three hundred past and present Colcord homeowners to complete this intimate portrait of the man and his homes. Complete with architectural renderings and photographs. Mortgage broker, house renovator, lecturer and author, Bret Parsons spent eighteen years in the architecture and design industry, much of the time in the executive suite at Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles.
