In the mood for some fishing? TNN Outdoors Bass Tournament '96 offers six actual U.S. lakes for would-be fishermen to sink their lines into: Lake Okeechobee, Truman Reservoir, Lake Erie West, Dale Hollow, Lake Eufaula and Bull Shoals. Choose between four seasons, six weather conditions and four wind strengths, and you'll be ready to hit the water.<br><br>Three perspectives offer players a chance to see a different side of fishing, with the first being an overhead view of your motorboat. Drive along the lake and find the perfect spot to reel in some fish. Once you've decided to try your hand at landing the big one, the screen will switch to a perspective just behind your fisherman looking toward the lake.<br><br>Cast your line by using the horizontal power meter and the screen will switch yet again. This time you'll see your lure floating in the water (from a top-down perspective) while you reel it in. Three different tournaments (Junior, Senior and the TNN Outdoors Bass) are included, with the goal being to place within the top five in order to continue to the next event. <br><br>Players can use the cash earned in the tournament to upgrade their rods, reels, lures and lines. This will be necessary since you begin the game with only $250! If you'd rather just hop on a boat and start fishing without worrying about a budget, the game has a Free Fishing mode that will let you do just that. TNN Outdoors Bass Tournament '96 also includes battery backup to save tournament progress, on-screen tips from TNN's Fish Fishburne and twelve different music tracks.
