It was unfortunate the Priority mail shipping took over a week to arrive, the trucks appeared to be delayed between warehouses. Perhaps the 15+lb weight of the package didn't help matters. The item was 100% dry at time of shipment, but given the product was half inch thick metal, it may have experienced extreme environmental conditions during shipping in the summer heat alerts, to rapid AC cool down which can create moisture.
