Almost returned item thinking it wasn't working until I discovered this was the problem. Works great for N64 and big original SNES. Haven't tried on Gamecube yet.

I contacted the manufacturer about the problem, who agreed the button switch inside the controller seemed to be damaged. Return was easy and painless! Would deal with seller again!
