I love this whistle! Jerry Freeman tweaked whistles are seriously some of the best whistles. This one is no exception. It sounds great, is easy to play, and doesn't take crazy breath. It has a nice traditional sound (not airy or breathy). I think the narrow bore makes it easy to hold. The finger holes aren't too far apart. I barely have to use a piper's grip, and my hands are pretty small. It might be the perfect whistle to start learning how to play low whistles (for the grip). Thanks Jerry!

The item itself is great: solid whistle, pleasant tone, good playability. The problem is what it took to get it. The seller didn’t ship until I filed a claim with eBay. It just sat in his location for around 10 days. Worse, he completely ignored my messages asking for an update. I’m not the 1st to have this problem with this seller. He responded really quickly of course when I filed a claim; but then gave excuses. I’d have more sympathy if this wasn’t a pattern and if he’d bothered to answer.

Just adding a follow-up after playing the whistle for a few weeks. It took a lot to get it here but I will say this is one mighty fine whistle. I ordered another whistle, from Ireland, at around the same time. I like that one a lot, too, and they each have their distinctive style. But the Freeman Mellow Dog is a joy to play and to hear, I prefer it over the one that cost 2x as much. It has a beautiful tone — both mellow and sweet — and it’s easy to play and make good sounds. A fine instrument.
