Ebay takes about 15% of the shipping cost charged in Final Value Fees (90c for a $6 shipping cost). Packaging costs about 50c - $1 per envelope or small box. USPS Ground Advantage is $4.5 to $5.5 for a 4-6 ounce item (including packaging weight) purchased directly from eBay. Do the calculation and you see that a $6 shipping cost for a small item actually LOSES me money. Shipping isn't a profit center, but free or cheap shipping is a fallacy.
