    The alternator's motor consistently whined once it was installed. I do not know if this was a bearing or diode issue or not. I do know that my older/prior alternator did not whine. I installed the alternator, removed it, and installed it a 2nd time making sure again that my bent tension was good. I wound up with the same whining results. I returned the unit and went with a Power Master from Summit.

    We sent it along with an instruction explaining that it is not a stock unit; it is a custom-made, high-output alternator and comes with a much smaller overdrive pulley, so it must be installed with a shorter belt. However, he did not follow the instructions and still used his stock belt, causing the belt to slip over the pulley and resulting in a whining noise.
