“StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm” is the second game in the StarCraft II trilogy. It is a direct sequel to “StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty” and continues right where that story ends. In “Heart of the Swarm,” the single-player story focuses on Sarah Kerrigan, the Queen of the Zerg. Face off against the Terran Dominion with a splash of Protoss thrown in. There are 20 single-player missions in the game, plus seven evolution missions. Sarah uses these missions to power up her brood, making them stronger and more agile. “StarCraft 2: Heart of the Swarm” is an expansion set that requires “StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty” to play. As the first expansion set Blizzard Entertainment made for “Wings of Liberty,” it has set the stage for top-shelf competitive strategy gaming that opens up the Starcraft universe with a massive campaign that enriches both the gameplay and the characters. Fans of action real-time strategy games find what they loved in the franchise broadened while enjoying the new immersive story-driven gameplay and strategy elements that continue to become even more in-depth as the story progresses. New units, objectives, and mechanics meet to create an expansion pack that is truly expansive.Gamers who want to complete every part of this single-player campaign are looking at over 20 hours of gameplay. Thanks to the built-in achievements, you replay missions repeatedly. These digital achievements push you to implement different strategies during a mission.The missions are varied. Some missions focus on base-building while some focus on protecting an ally from harm. Some missions even resemble a multiplayer online battle arena game as you need to defeat waves of enemies while protecting your base. This title also features boss fights that feel ripped from an arcade game. Kerrigan tackles huge bosses with intricate attack patterns. To win, you need to search out the right pattern and counterattack after dodging the attacks from the boss. Each mission also has different tactical approaches, giving the campaign some replay ability. While you don't start out with the full might of your army, throughout the title you unlock stronger units. This Blizzard title features all the multiplayer components seen in previous releases. The matchmaking mode also returns, ensuring that players are paired up against competitors of equal skill. Each race in the title gets new units. For example, the Protoss get the Mothership Core, a powerful weapon that obliterates their enemies. The Zerg get the Swarm Host, a unit that can quickly traverse any terrain and swoop down on an opponent. These new units change the title significantly and have players coming up with new strategies on the fly. The gameplay even incorporates the ability to watch replays of professional matches, allowing you to learn new strategies.“Starcraft 2: Heart of the Swarm” is rated T by the ESRB. This rating is due to its use of alcohol and violence and the amount of blood and gore shown. Starcraft 2 combines fast-paced gameplay and an engrossing story to create one of the most compelling games on the PC platform.
