Corny jokes and the best performers country music had to offer were the staples of this long-running show, a more rural take on the sketch comedy of Rowan & Martin's LAUGH-IN. Hosted by country music legends Buck Owens and Roy Clark, the show was in syndication for over 20 years after being dropped by CBS in 1971, and maintained its popularity through its good-natured, consciously hokey one-liners. Tammy Wynette's appearance in this episode takes place shortly after her marriage to the great George Jones, when the country music power couple reigned supreme. The First Lady of Country delivers a moving rendition of her trademark number, "Stand by Your Man," after which George takes over for a rowdy version of his number 1 hit, "White Lightin'." Then, "Hillbilly Heartthrob" Faron Young is joined by a full swing band and three fiddles as he plays his much-loved 1968 hit "She Went a Little Bit Farther." Also included is an exclusive interview with Roy Clark, where audiences are dished up all the HEE HAW gossip!
