It's equipped with an AM3 socket for AMD FX, Phenom II, Athlon II, and Sempron desktop CPUs. For connection to a power supply, it uses a 24-pin port. It has a VRM power design to accommodate high thermal power specifications. This assists in keeping temperatures low during times of heavy loads on the CPU and the board. It sports a 990FX chipset that enables speeds of 5.2 GT per second. This works in tandem with a front-side bus, or FSB, speed of 5200 MT per second for fast data rates between installed components. With four 240-pin DIMM memory connections, it supports up to 32GB of dual-channel DDR3 2000+, 1866, 1333, or 1066 MHz RAM. Myriad peripherals can be connected to the board as well via four USB 3.0 slots and 14 USB 2.0 slots.
