However, it is not a state of the art modern DVD drive and this DVD drive will not operate off of a USB hub but it either has to directly plug into a computer or could operate using a type A USB extension cable. Modern USB DVD drives can use a USB Hub. The most recent Mac computers only have type C USB sockets and would need an adapter to use this older DVD drive. I wish Apple could come out with a newer DVD drive in its product line that could play Blu ray disks.

My original Super Drive (at least 5 + years old) started acting up and figured it was time to replace. Since Apple stopped selling them I looked on Ebay. For the price this vendor was selling them I bought two! They both work fine and appeared to be in excellent condition (no scratches, dents or visible damage). I ran a couple of movies thru each and they worked just fine. I bought two to have a spare for the future just in case.
