I learned that if you are buying a winding key, you need to order a key whose hole is slightly larger than the clock's winding stem. For example, if the clock's stem is 4 mm square, DO NOT order a key with a 4 mm square hole. Order a key that is the next size up, which in this example would be 4.25 mm square.
